Helo was basically coming across the planes heading at a 90 degree
angle. Basically like a 4 way intersection in the air. Helo saw the
landing lights for the plane, and knew he was heading into the path of
that airliner so Helo called out to ATC

ATC asks whats his heading and altitude
Helo tells him heading and altitude, he was at 3000ft
ATC tells him maintain heading and altitude
ATC calls out to American jet on final, confirms hes on final
American jet calls out his heading and altitude
ATC calls out to maintain approach
ATC then realizes
