Checked it. Yeah, my three different space heaters went from .5 off to 285 and flashing warnings. Ionizing radiation. This has to be intentional. Someone has put a tiny frequency generator into the circuitry between the transformer and the amplitude modulator. It's not about level of heat setting, just turned on and on FAN mode, it does this.
I checked them out and as it happens, this radiation field is at 12" or less. Off the charts ionizing radiation between 70 and 300. Beyond 12" it dissipates fast. At 20" it was .5 so keep the things away from your body, as far as practicable.
This is intentional.
