To become a Captain of a commercial aircraft, you must have logged at least 1,500 flight hours and hold a full Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL). However, in reality, most short-haul airlines require a minimum of 3,000 hours before considering any pilots for promotion.

- How is that I KNOW things like - her glide slope was too steep for the approach,- all observed on first viewing of this "landing." Her speed was excessive for landing in ANY conditions, much less ICY; and she landed late on the runway. Any of these factors and the rules say, TOGA (take off, go around, try again.) She got all three and still came in? On ice? I guess because no warning alarms are going to tell her what to do, especially in a man's voice. PULL UP, TERRAIN! PULL UP, TERRAIN!
