“Diversity” Somali Cop Kills Aussie Woman in Minneapolis after She Called 911 to Report Disturbance

Justine Ruszczyk Damond, originally from Sydney, Australia, was shot and killed by a Somali Minneapolis police officer on July 15 after her family members say she called 9-1-1 to report a potential ongoing assault in an alley. When the two officers arrived on scene, one of them pulled out his gun and shot her dead.
The officer who shot and killed the 40-year-old Australian woman has been identified as Mohamed Noor, the precinct’s first Somali-American officer.
The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a statement that two officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to Justine’s call of a possible assault near their home around 11:30 p.m. July 15.

The BCA’s investigation is in its early stages. More information will be available once initial interviews with incident participants and any witnesses are complete. …
The officers’ body cameras were not turned on at the time and the squad camera did not capture the incident.
Investigators are attempting to determine whether any video of the incident exists.

Three unidentified sources with knowledge of the incident told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that that two officers in one squad car, responding to the 911 call, pulled into the alley. Damond, in her pajamas, went to the driver’s side door and was talking to the driver. The officer in the passenger seat pulled his gun and shot Damond through the driver’s side door, sources said. Damond was unarmed and no weapon was found at the scene.
Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges released a statement on Facebook, saying that she “heartsick and deeply disturbed” by the incident, vowing to share as more information concerning the circumstances of the incident as soon it will be available.

Hodges in particular promised to press the investigators to answer why the bodycams were disabled at the time of the incident in a press conference she hold together with police on Sunday, as cited by the Start Tribune.

“I have the same questions you do, and I seek the same answers you seek,” she said in a statement Monday.
“This process is difficult, but I want to be sure we get this right.”

Noor was the first Somali-American officer to join the Minneapolis Police Department’s 5th Precinct team. He joined the department in March 2015. Before that, he worked in property management.
Noor and the other officer, whose identity has yet to be released, have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
