It was the same in the civil war of the North vs the South. Confederates from 1862 were drafted at gunpoint to enter service or be hung on the spot. ALL OF THEM. Union soldiers knew that. It was only in the last 6 months of the war the North started a draft, to finish things up. Everyone felt it was wrong, and should be a volunteer effort.
A conscription is evil.
The Vietnamese understood this fact. It was a jewbie controlled Johson/Nixon government that created the Vietnam War.
