Feeling the burn. That's what they say. Those drugged children sure did "feel the burn". And that's the secret meaning behind their little saying. You can hear their little screams over the tribal drums you setup to drown them out. And that is NOW the curse of Burning Man - attend, and YOU WILL ALWAYS HEAR THE SCREAMS. FOREVER.
And I did this thing, because John Rawlins asked me to, for him. I told him to pray for justice for the children. YHVH would let me know His decision. He did. Do as what seems right to you.
And here we are, year 4. And golly gee! I just wonder how an Earth judgment might play out. The mind boggles. I'm a right guy, I won't spoil the surprise for anyone. Like telling how a movie turns out, before you get to watch.

Some of the most striking scenes in HBO’s documentary “The Man Will Burn” show Burning Man attendees rigged on ropes hanging from the top of a geodesic dome, flying toward each other while brandishing foam swords. They were filmed at the theme camp Death Guild Thunderdome, which since 1999 has been bringing Mad Max-style combat to the Black Rock City Desert.
“There’s nothing like seeing the repressed rage come out of two hippies who are fighting. They’re the angriest fighters I’ll ever see,” camp leader Marisa Lenhardt said.
But this year, those hippies will have to find a new way to express their rage: The Thunderdome won’t be in attendance.
It’s just one of many longstanding camps that will be sitting out 2026, including psychedelic peer support camp Zendo Project and sound camp Distrikt. The list goes on — ranging from Kostume Kult to the mighty Mayan Warrior’s iconic barge-like art car with a massive sound system (leaders will be hosting an art-focused camp instead). Other notable no-shows include Milk & Honey, Miso, Black Rock French Quarter, Deaf Granny’s Kitchen, Couchburners, Sumanah, My Dad’s House, Desperados, Black Rock Community College, Duckpond, Dolly Lamas and Mythmaker. All told, the playa will look quite different this year.
The Blood Dome
Last year’s vicious windstorm at Burning Man caused damage to countless camps, but one in particular made headlines: the Orgy Dome. One of Burning Man’s most notable camps, the Orgy Dome serves anywhere from 8,000 to 10,000 attendees per year, offering a safe consensual space to explore sexuality. But after 50 mph winds ravaged the playa in 2025, the dome’s infrastructure was heavily damaged, with tarps torn and metal poles bent. At the time, organizers estimated the damage cost them between $20,000 and $30,000.
The seven-person board of directors went to work after Burning Man ended, trying to find a replacement for the damaged 4,000-square-foot structure. The board found most of its options to be wildly expensive, like a 50-foot dome that cost $60,000. The organization behind the dome, And Then There’s Only Love, runs a lean operation that leaves little in the bank after the event. The solution was a series of GoFundMe campaigns, which in total raised close to $70,000, including two $10,000 donations from Redditors. The total operating cost of the camp is over $100,000 a year; the organization makes up the gap in funding with camp dues from over 100 volunteers.
Over 10% of all Burning Man attendees make their way through the Orgy Dome over the course of the week (it’s open until 4 a.m. most nights), but for those who haven’t been, here’s how it works: Attendees queue up outside the tents and then go through an ID check to ensure the space is 18 and over. Next, there’s a consent seminar, laying out the organization’s specific framework (consent must be freely given, informed, enthusiastic and specific, and it is reversible). No single individuals are allowed in, only groups.
